Lynne Friedmann is a trail blazer in the specialized field of science communications.  A biologist and journalist by training, she began her career in 1983 with Regis McKenna Public Relations, later served as public information representative for the Developmental Biology Center at UC Irvine, west coast media representative for the National Academy of Sciences, and interim director of The Salk Institute.  Since 1988 she has been a science communications consultant and freelance science writer.

An award-winning professional, Friedmann served for three years on a 16-member, blue-ribbon government committee of journalists, scientists, and PR professionals examining science communications issues and whose recommendations were presented to the National Science Board.


Friedmann has been named a Fellow by three organizations:  American Association for the Advancement of Science, Association for Women in Science, and the Public Relations Society of America.  In each case she was lauded for “leadership and significant contributions to the public communication of science and technology.”
