Vice President, Program Management | Qualcomm
Áine Shivnan is an engineering and program management executive with an extensive record of achievement leading multi-disciplined teams from theoretical research through design, development, and commercial product delivery. Her experience covers a range of technology areas including communications software, network protocols, artificial intelligence and robotics. Áine’s broad operational capabilities were developed through a career focused on innovation that spans the spectrum from start-up founder to management at multi-national organizations.
Currently serving as Vice President, Program Management at Qualcomm Research, Áine is responsible for operations and strategy management of research programs with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence. She works with scientists and engineers developing state-of-the art technologies and machine learning techniques optimized for low-power mobile devices with a view to bringing human-like perception to smartphones, robotics, IoT, and automotive applications.
Áine earned her B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Dublin, Trinity College, Ireland and is a graduate of UCSD’s EPSE program as well as San Diego’s LEAD Impact class of 2017. She is a strong supporter of STEM initiatives through her volunteer work as judge for FIRST Tech Challenge, serves on Qualcomm’s Women’s Leadership Council, and is also a member of IEEE's Women In Engineering (WIE) network. When not focused on STEM, Áine takes great delight in her role as board member of Rancho Coastal Humane Society and it’s dedication to the care of animals and the people who love them.
