A DAY IN THE LIFE:
Analyzes, designs, acquires, defines, and implements network communications and solutions. Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Maintains all network and mission critical services. Coordinates network system planning, installing, monitoring, testing and servicing. Documents procedures, fixes, Network Architecture, Server configurations and WAN layout. Provides systems analysis and participates in making recommendations on potential hardware and software purchases and upgrades. Plans, designs, acquires, and implements network and security systems.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deploys, maintains and troubleshoots SIEM's, Firewalls, IPS, routers, switches and other security throughout the company. Performs network security monitoring/management and incident response for large client organizations. Supports server, network, software and applications. Reviews daily server logs to ensure proper operation, security and prevention of downtime. Assists with VPN connectivity set ups. Performs technology needs analysis by conferring with departmental personnel to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements. Recommends, tests and deploys firmware updates on all network equipment and firewall periodically as required. Writes detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify business processes and computer systems. Communicates alerts throughout the company regarding intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure, applications and operating systems. Assists with implementation of counter-measures or mitigating controls. Rolls out hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of network and security resources. Plans, implements, and supports the network and computing infrastructure plan. Supports small to medium sized projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules. Assists with technology planning through ongoing research. Maintains inventory of equipment and parts as well as documentation of vendor activities. Develops and documents system standards for computer and network devices. Documents Network configurations of LAN & WAN. Recommends and schedules repairs to the LAN/WAN. Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills & abilities: Knowledge of basic principles related to PKI, including certificates, and private keys. Experience with Microsoft Azure security and network design. Knowledge of network setup, security and server operating systems: Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards. In-depth knowledge and extensive hands-on experience with a full range of layer 1-7 technologies and protocols (advanced layer2; redundancy protocols, advanced OSPF, BGP, and other routing protocols, advanced layer 4-7 load-balancing, security, content management, and other technologies) Advanced knowledge of ticketing systems, monitoring and network management tools, and experience with design/development/operational deployment of such systems Proven experience with Fortinet and Cisco security, routing and switching systems. Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories. Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides. Ability to conduct research into Network issues and products as required. Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. Fortinet NSE 4-8 certification strongly preferred. Broad knowledge of Information Security. Strong customer-service orientation. Skilled at creating an environment which supports the timely exchange of high quality information. Proficient at promoting effective working relationships in multi-disciplinary teams. Adaptability to quickly and proactively implement change initiatives, providing guidance to others in meeting changing needs.
Minimum certifications/educational level: S. in computer science or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience. Equivalent education includes technical school training and certifications in networks and servers.
Minimum experience: 6 plus months of experience working in a Windows, Linux LAN/WAN network environment including: Windows Servers and networks in a medium LAN/WAN environment. Configuration of Windows servers and Workstations. Identifying and troubleshooting issues with network connectivity, software, installation and configuration, firewall, routers, switches, DNS, DHCP services. Support of networked devices. Remote user access set-up.
Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks. Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for deviation from accepted practice.
