Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Reimbursement Manager, a clerk’s primary responsibilities are to manage patient medical records, patient calls, patient and ‘payer’ payments, work with patients for payment arrangements, review and investigate claims while assisting patients, team members, medical staff and other areas as needed as it pertains to the accurate management of medical claim data and the patient encounter.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Assisting the department in a variety of tasks and special projects where training is provided Answering and triaging phones Filing and file retrieval of medical records Verifying patient demographics and performing eligibility checks Placing phone calls to medical offices Posting Payments Running credit card payments and issuing refunds Working task lists as needed The ideal candidate for this role would be: Interested in learning a new field and growing with a large growing company Have a close attention to detail Able to learn new software systems quickly Have a great attitude Be a self-starter, there is always something to do! Have great phone skills Experience in health care with billing, insurance, EMRs, or customer service a plus! Education/Experience/Skills: Experience as Billing Clerk, Dental and/or Medical Biller for Borrego Health or equivalent to similar experience. Diploma from an approved High School or GED Equivalent.
Requirements: 	Must complete initial training and successfully pass all assessments within 90 days of hire.
