The Diversity Conference Partners with San Diego Women Empowerment Tech Cohort

As the job market is becoming increasingly competitive, local non-profit creates a solution for students and professionals to get their foot in the door. The Western Regional Diversity Conference 2017,  appropriately nicknamed The Diversity Conference or WRDC, is a 2-day conference that highlights workplace diversity and inclusion. With expectations of over 500 attendees, WRDC has constructed an impressive agenda that includes a business pitch competition for a change to win $20,000 in prizes, 50 guest speakers and influencer, over 25 panels and workshops, networking breakfast and mixers, and a business expo.

It’s not a secret that there are some major gender disparities when evaluating the employment of women in the tech world. Only 25% of women make up computing and technical roles. But how do women break barriers in a competitive environment that is being dominated by men? WRDC will host a panel called “Women in Tech” where a panel of female game changers will share their experience working within the tech industry.

Panelists include motivational speaker and Founder of Code Newbie, Saron Yitbarek and Girl Develop It San Diego Co-President, Shana Moore. Also included are Intuit Quality Engineer Lead, Rocio Montes and GoPro Software Engineer Jaleesa Conner. Panel will be moderated by community empowerment strategist and Athena San Diego Member and Marketing Director, Elizabeth Laine.

These organizations are excited to share their expertise on how they empower women to succeed in tech. Hosted at the beautiful California Center for the Arts in the Greater San Diego Area, attendees will have the opportunity to network with investors, government and corporate contractors, fortune 500 companies and small businesses, student and professional associations, and other groups who believe that diversity and inclusion are key to building sustainable communities

Panel Topics Include:

Forming a Legal Entity and Navigating the Interview Process

How to Crack in to Sports Management Marketing

Entertainment and Women in Tech.
