BACKGROUND
As statistics continue to show, women remain underrepresented at the leadership levels within the Math & Science related fields. Although progress has been made over the years, there is still a need to enhance the pool of qualified women leaders in these Industries. Athena San Diego's Pinnacle Awards recognize women, men, and companies or organizations who personify Athena San Diego's mission of fostering the personal and professional growth of women through mentoring, education, recognition, and leadership training thereby enhancing diversity, competitiveness and opportunity within their industry or organization as well as the San Diego business community.
Awards are presented to the nominees who strive to enhance diversity through the identification, development and advancement of skilled and talented women, and have had a beneficial impact within their organization and in the San Diego community. Awards are given out in 5 categories: Life Sciences, Technology, Services, Education, and Company/Organization.
